Let's be honest, this isn't a friendly game of softball. You're learning to hit and break people, there are some bumps and bruises along the way. BUT - it is very, very, VERY rare that injuries happen. AND - we have an extremely low injury rate, and are very careful of injuries.
Absolutely, every night. BUT - it is earned. We do not put you in situations where we need to worry about your safety. We start sparring off with designated games that build skills in certain areas. Very soon, you learn how to put it all together and sparring is just awesome. If you are looking to fight, there are designated harder sparring sessions, but 80% of our students do not participate in these sessions. They are reserved for athletes / competitors.
Yup, just about everyone has this fear, and hopefully we can convince you right now that... No one gives a sh*t. Really. Because we've all been there and are STILL there. We're all learning. Learning martial arts is clumsy at times, its awkward and kinda weird lol. But eventually it smooths out, makes sense and becomes part of who you are. We are also a RESPECT first environment. Everyone is here to help each other grow and we work together to do it. Finally, we LOVE having beginners, because hopefully you'll become another great training partner and valuable member of TRITAC.
Yes, we have very, very active competition teams in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu. At least 2-3 competitions every month. We compete locally, nationally and sometimes internationally in MMA / Jiu-Jitsu. There are many paths to competition, and we will guide you through them. But please understand, if you are looking to compete in MMA, that is a 1-2 year process of training 3-5 days a week. If you are looking to compete in Jiu-Jitsu, that is a 3-6 month process of training 3-5 days a week. You do NOT have to compete. 60%+ of our students never compete. You're here to become stronger, healthier and more confident. Competition can a tool to achieve those goals.
In the beginning - shorts, t-shirt, water-bottle (we have filtered fountain if you forget) and that's it. Eventually for both MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, you'll need a good rashguard or two, and some training shorts / spats. In your are doing Gi BJJ, you'll nee a Gi - and if you are doing MMA, you'll need MMA Sparring Gloves (6-8oz), Boxing Gloves (16-18oz), and Shin Guards (no cloth). But if you're just getting started, we have everything you need to get going.
In order to be accepted at the TRITAC Training Center, you must be able to commit 10 days a month to your training. Especially in the first 3 months. If not, it is almost impossible to learn and develop any true skill. Life has it's ups/downs, so there are times where you maybe able to do more, and times that you may do less. But 10 times a month is a good goal. You CAN be here 7 days a week if you want :)
Oddly enough, this question happens weekly. 90% of people who want into our gym have never done martial arts before, and if they did it was as a kid for a couple of years. The other 10% are either wrestlers or transplants for other gyms. We know you haven't trained before, and that's exciting! We get to introduce martial arts to you and hopefully inspire you to train and develop it. We have very specific systems for helping new students get acclimated, have fun, and get good - fast!
In our eyes... never lol. Martial arts can be an endless journey of discovery and betterment. But to gain a solid understanding of Jiu-Jitsu and/or MMA, you need at least 2-3 years. To gain a basic level of skill to defend yourself, that be achieved in 3-6 months. Everyone has their own goals in training, for some "good" never occurs. But for others some goals can be achieved in a short time.

Results take time, but if you’re consistent, they will come. If you are a beginner, results will come fairly quickly; even in only 30 days, you may start to see a difference in your strength and overall fitness.
Yes. We like to organize our fitness classes into small groups, as this allows you to meet others.
We are a community of people that share the same fitness journey as you. We are here to build each other up - if you win, we all win.
If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with 2 to 4 classes a week, with the goal of working up to 5 a week after your first few months. It may take a while for your body to get used to training at that intensity, so listen to your body and know you will need recovery time between training days.
We have filtered water available to our members. Other snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
No! No matter what your current fitness level is, we have the fitness program that is right for you. Every workout is designed to help you succeed, improve fitness, and move you toward your goals. Our program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience.
We take all major credit cards and debit cards. We do not accept personal checks.
Our class programming will include a strength portion in which you’ll work on something like Olympic weightlifting, deadlifting, squatting, or bodyweight strength or you may work on a skill like handstand push-ups. After the strength or skill portion of the class is complete, most days will involve a workout that was programmed for that specific day. Workouts can be anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes or more.
No! A healthy lifestyle has to be manageable and realistic for the long term. Do enjoy special indulgences and meals! The healthier you are, the healthier you tend to want to eat. You get hooked on feeling good, and junk food just isn’t worth it. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health.
But once you do, it might be the most awesome thing you've ever done. And if it's not, there's no obligation!
